How do I make a reservation?
Call (713)780-4900 between 12 Noon and 5pm, Monday through Sunday. Have a credit card number ready to guarantee the reservation. (Note: You are guaranteeing that you will show up OR that you will call and cancel with at least 24 hours notice.) Also note that at the end of the evening you attend you will be given a bill and you pay for it any way you wish, the card will not have been run. You will be assigned the best table available at the point in time that you call.So try to call a week in advance and you will get a better table than if you call the same day. Coming early on the evening of the show will not change your table. It has already been assigned. If you do not show up and do not call and cancel you will be charged a $10 per person "no show" fee on your credit card. The 24 hour cancellation policy applies to groups of 8 or fewer people. Groups larger than eight have specific instructions on cancellation. We are the ONLY theater that allows ANY kind of cancellation. All other theaters run your credit card immediately, issue you a ticket that is waiting for you at the box office, and if you don't show up you have already paid in full.

How do I get on your mailing list?

Is there a dress code?(NICE CASUAL)
We say "nice casual". Some men wear slacks and a sport shirt, some men wear jackets. It just depends on what makes you comfortable. Women look great no matter what they wear!

Is there free parking?(YES)
Yes. We are in the Carillion Shopping Center where there is plenty of parking.

Do you do anything special for Birthdays or Anniversaries?
NO! Gee, that sounds like a harsh answer! But what we mean is that being one of the very few special evenings out in Houston we get many, many Birthdays and Anniversaries. If we sang "Happy Birthday" for example, we be singing that all night long.
Some restaurants give dessert to the Birthday person but we give dessert to everyone!
By virtue of being a theater we have to have everyone come at exactly the same time so the waiters are very busy just getting the food out on time. It's not like other restaurants where people come in over a period of time.
So what we try to give you is a very unique, memorable and enjoyable evening for your celebration and enhance the enjoyment of being with that special someone or two or ten!

Do we sit at our own table?(YES)
Yes, of course. A party of two sits at a table for two. A party of four sits at a table for four, etc.When you see a lot of people sitting at a long table it is because they are a very large party that wants to sit at one long table.

Do we get a better table if we arrive early?(NO)
NO! The best table available, when you make the reservation, is assigned to you. So make the reservation early.

Is This a Great Place?(YES)
OK, so this question is a set-up! But really, if you want to see a play at any decent theater in town it is going to cost you $35 to $50. You will be seated bolt upright in an uncomfortable chair watching a stage. The Great Caruso is comfortable. The plays are first-rate productions chosen to be entertaining. There is plenty of free parking outside. The "play only" price is $23 or $28. You get a wonderful 3-course dinner for only $14 more!! It is truly a wonderful evening.So don't you think we should brag a little?

Why is the dinner so inexpensive?
Obviously we don't offer this dinner for $14 by itself. It is an add-on price to the play (although there is a "Play-Only" price). 99% of our customers have the dinner. You can look at the "Dinner Menu" link and see this is an impressive 3-Course meal.
By separating the ticket price and the dinner price it allows you to understand that a first-class production like ours would cost anywhere from $35 to $50 for a ticket and a dinner like ours would cost at least $25 to $30 at a restaurant. Put that together and you begin to realize how reasonable our $37 Dinner & Show price,($42 on Friday & Saturday)is for a great evening out in such a beautiful setting! Compare it to the cost of going to a nice theater like Stages or The Alley and having dinner at a nearby restaurant. And it is unlikely that would would enjoy their production any more than ours. Good theater is good theater.

Do you have gift certificates?(YES)
Yes. They are very pretty and there is a space for who is giving the gift certificate (so you get credit for it) and who it is for. They can be purchased in any dollar amount.You can handle the purchase over the telephone if you have a fax machine so that we can fax you a credit card authorization form. Or you can come by in person between 12 noon and 5 pm.
One size fits all! Many companies reward employees or thank their clients with a gift certificate to The Great Caruso Dinner Theater

Are children welcome?(YES)
Yes. And children 11 and under are 1/2 price although you must point this out to the waiter when you are seated. We try to do shows that the entire family will enjoy. If you have a question about whether or not a particular show is appropriate, you can call and ask.

Can I have my wedding at The Great Caruso?
We think we are the most beautiful and affordable indoor wedding in Houston. We are available for afternoon weddings on Saturday and Sunday (during the day). We can accommodate up to 175 people and can make all the arrangements from cakes to flowers to ministers, if you so desire.

Is the XMAS SHOW different than our regular Dinner Theater Productions?
Yes. We do the Xmas Show in the month of December as ENTERTAINMENT WHILE YOU DINE. This is the way we have done it for 26 years and people like it that way. There is not a play. The lights stay up and the entertainment goes on while you are dining . Part of it is the Xmas Show but there is also a variety of other entertainment. So you can talk, visit, exchange gifts, enjoy the beautiful Christmas decor and still enjoy the show. Think of it as a little like being in a supper club from one of the old 1940's movies!

Can I book now for the XMAS SHOW in December?
Yes. Large parties and companies should especially think about early bookings since we are open EVERY DAY in December and sell out every day! The show is in our Cabaret format of entertainment (that is while you dine). So you can talk and visit and exchange gifts and yet also enjoy the entertainment. Where else can you hear wonderful Christmas music and also a variety of other great music and entertainment while dining in Houston's most beautiful atmosphere?

Can large groups have luncheons or seminars at The Great Caruso?
Yes. Your group needs to be large enough, say 75 to 100, to take over the restaurant. We can accommodate up to 175.There is no place better suited to luncheons or seminars. Everybody can see everybody! There are sound and light and projection facilities available if you need them. There is entertainment available if you so desire. And we are a beautiful and affordable place!

Can you cancel a reservation without being charged?
Yes and No. For reservations of 8 or fewer, you are never stuck with a ticket as you are with other theaters if, for some reason, you can't come. So long as you CALL AND CANCEL 24 hours in advance, you will not be charged on your credit card. If you don't call and cancel, and just don't show up, you will be charged a $10 per person, NO SHOW fee. We require a 24 hour notice to accept a cancellation.
THIS POLICY DOES NOT APPLY TO GROUPS LARGER THAN EIGHT (8) PEOPLE. LARGE GROUPS WILL BE TOLD WHEN THEY BOOK WHAT THE CANCELLATION POLICY WILL BE FOR THEIR SIZE GROUP.

When I give my credit card is it charged right away?
No. The credit card is taken to guarantee your reservation. When you show up that evening you will be given a bill at the end of the evening and you can pay for it any way you like.If you do not show up and did not call to cancel, then AT THAT TIME you will be charged a $10 per person NO SHOW FEE on your credit card. So call if you are not coming and save us all the aggravation!

Can The Great Caruso be rented out for an evening?
Yes. Even on the evenings when we are normally closed, like Monday and Tuesday. Call (713) 780-4900 and ask for the manager. We will answer your questions and fax you information.
